Description
The David Bowen Chimera Cue is a custom made laminate shaft made with seasoned hard Canadian maple and English walnut chevrons. The lamination of the two woods produces a shaft like no other, imitating the chevrons of an ash cue but with a perfectly straight grain and uniformed chevron pattern. The lamination of the wood produces a shaft that reduces throw and deflection.
The Chimera cue shafts are produced to order a then taken down in several stages over a period of 12-18 months. The shaft is then ready for the exotic hardwood splices to your chosen design. The overall estimated wait is 24 months from order.
The Chimera range of cues are hand spliced with only the highest grade of exotic hardwoods available. Wood choices include African Gabon ebony (black ebony), Macassar ebony and striped Asian ebony. Decorative front facing splices are also available in the Chimera classic design, select decorative slice options from the drop down menus to confirm the chosen options.
The Aristocrat butt design has two levels of splicing which can be separated with hardwood veneers. Choices for the large primary splices include African Ebony, Macassar Ebony, Striped Asian Ebony and African Blackwood. There are many more choices for the exotic hardwood lower splices as these exotic woods are more readily available in shorter lengths. Please call me if you require different woods or any specific design which is not listed.
The Chimera cue badge now reads, “Handmade by DAVID BOWEN – CHIMERA No. xxx”.
Due to the production time involved in making the Chimera cue shaft the waiting period is approximately 24 months from order.
Extensions are also available for my cues, these are available for purchase as an additional item. These will be made from the same wood choice for the main cue splices or can be made with the same facing splice as the cue. Please call for prices on bespoke extensions or any other specific requirements.
Please allow 24 months for delivery.
