Description
The Aristocrat cue with select seasoned Pear wood (pyrus communis) shaft. Pear wood has achieved somewhat of a legendary status in the cue sport industry, being very rarely used in shafts but always sought after. Pear wood was first used on the JP Mannock Anti-Grip cues where this wood was specified due to the superior finish that could be achieved over ash or maple shafts.
Pear, like maple, has no noticeable grain on the shaft although it does have a much darker colour, it is also marginally heavier and denser. Pear wood is much more flexible than maple and will not be suitable for players that require a stiff shaft.
Only kiln dried Pear wood is used and then further seasoned for a minimum of 12 months before starting the planing process. My shafts are then taken down slowly over a process of 12-18 months to ensure the shaft remains straight for its lifetime so please allow 24-months for delivery.
The Aristocrat cue badge now reads, “Handmade by DAVID BOWEN – ARISTOCRAT No. xxx”.
The David Bowen Aristocrat is for the player who wants to hold something precious without forfeiting class. Four secondary lower splices of exotic hardwood over genuine hardwood veneers. Many precious rare exotic hardwoods are available for the lower splices as well as a large choice for the primary splices.
